Did you even mention on air that it was the finale? I found out from looking through the auction items and seeing the script. I have to admit I was disappointed to see John not attempt to burn down HBO’s building again.

We know these Nazi scum have been conducting deliberate online psy-ops to normalize their beliefs, and I’m worried that kids have come up during that time have unwittingly absorbed and adopted the strategies they use to dehumanize their enemies and sneak heinous ideas into mainstream society.

I think these people mean well, and want to make fandom spaces safer and more inclusive. That’s good! I am concerned though that they’re using the same rhetorical strategies, and thinking about their “opponents” in the same way, as the alt-right.

It’s true that microaggressions contribute to an environment where hate crimes happen, but it’s bananas to put the weight of systemic violence on some random person whose only actual offense was in vocabulary.

… every offense is blown up to the most severe version in its category, even if that makes no sense. If someone uses an outdated word, there will be gremlins popping out of trash cans blaming them for hate crimes.

If you’ve ever had an argument with one of these fan cops, you’ve probably noticed that they will contort their position to *whatever it has to be* in order for you to be wrong. They’re so slippery.

I feel hypocritical saying it, but I am inclined to throw accusations of fascism right back at the 14 year olds who think drawing weird porn is genocidal. Not because I think they’re *trying* to be fascists, but because I am concerned about how the Internet has rotted their brains on how to argue.
