UN Chief Antonio Guterres says it is “inevitable” we will miss our Paris climate targets. This will have devastating consequences for us here in Australia as well as vulnerable communities around the world.

We must change course.

It is an indictment on Labor to have chosen a weak, unambitious and deadly climate target while First Nations people in this country already bear the brunt of extreme heat.

Labor knows their 62% target will lock in >2°C warming and heat will continue to kill and displace people.

#breaking The PM was not briefed directly on the climate risk report despite being about to set Australia’s 2035 targets.

He didn’t ask for a briefing from the scientists.

Low climate targets benefit coal & gas company profits, while the rest of us pay for their damage.

With mega-polluter Woodside on the BCA board, it isn't hard to connect the dots.

We need a plan to phase out coal & gas + net zero by 2035 like the science demands.

Good to see Treasury agrees! Last month the Greens called for the Treasurer’s upcoming Roundtable to shift our economy to better help mothers re-enter the workforce. Our current tax system means a second parent, usually a mum, works additional days for virtually no take home pay.

The first split in the Coalition was a bit of a fizzer, with only two Liberals and one Nat voting.

It was almost Nat Zero, with only Canavan showing up to oppose a Net Zero target, along with six crossbenchers.

Guess a clown mini-van was needed 🚐

Words, while welcome, won’t feed starving kids. Other countries like France are moving beyond statements with concrete actions to build pressure on the state of Israel to end its genocide in Gaza. Australia must too. Recognise Palestine, implement sanctions, end the two-way arms trade.

House prices are up, again.

The housing crisis is putting home ownership further out of reach for millions of renters and first home buyers.

To fix this, Labor must end the $176b in tax handouts to wealthy property investors.

Housing should be for people, not profit.

The North West Shelf extension is a disaster.

It will release more pollution each year than all of Australia’s coal stations combined, threaten ancient Murujuga rock art, and deliver $0 to the public purse.

Yet Labor approved it anyway.

For 13 years UNESCO has warned the Great Barrier Reef could be listed ‘In Danger’.

After multiple bleaching events and 50% coral loss, our Reef faces its final warning while the major parties stall on meaningful action toward net zero.
May 30, 2025 at 4:01 AM
Under the cover of the on-again/off-again Coalition drama, Labor is gearing up to approve an absolutely catastrophic gas project.

Woodside’s North West Shelf is an untapped climate bomb.

This approval would mean supercharged floods, fires and species extinctions.

The LNP-controlled Brisbane City Council have a strict non-political rule for the electronic billboard across from City Hall. Apparently, that non-political rule doesn't apply if there's a gas lobby group that wants to attack the Greens.

It's time Medicare rebates stopped discriminating against gay couples, and supported all Australians who want to use IVF services by making it more affordable.

The Greens are once again ready to take bold action to help people while the major parties tinker around the edges.

In this cost of living crisis, trying to balance the household budget with a newborn has never been harder.

It’s time parents are rewarded, not penalised, for dedicating themselves to the precious first year of a baby’s life.

$10 million to promote the Great Barrier Reef and get more kids to experience this ecological wonder is fine and well, but funding to actual protect it for future generations would be better!

I'm here at the Gabba with our dedicated Greens crew helping residents with the daunting clean-up efforts-just days after Cyclone Alfred inundated these streets with 1.5 meters of water.

It comes as no surprise that a party with such poor regard for women would not only rehire someone like this, but promote him.
February 27, 2025 at 12:56 AM
Australian voters live in stark reality: struggling to put food on the table as so-called ‘business leaders’ pay up to $110,000 for access to senior politicians in the major parties.

The Greens-initiated Senate inquiries and the persistent pressure from women across Australia have finally led to this much-needed announcement.

It's long overdue, but it’s great that Menopausal Hormone Therapy (MHT) will be halved in price.

As an actual environmental lawyer, today was a sad day. After caving in the mining and logging lobby, Labor and Liberal have just voted together to kill the government’s own nature laws.
February 5, 2025 at 7:23 AM
Oh no the billionaires are mad at us!

You've probably noticed some ads targeting the Greens recently. Far right groups with close links to billionaires, coal and gas corporations, and their political allies in the Liberal
Party, are spending big to attack us.
February 4, 2025 at 3:12 AM
Unfortunately for the climate, the major parties have decided to say Good Luck Babe, and take the fossil fuel $$ instead 🔥💰

In March 2024, Labor promised that businesses with over 500 employees would need to meet gender equity targets to secure government contracts. But now, it's clear that non-compliant companies could still win contracts.

In a cost of living crisis, these fees are a huge burden for parents and carers, and it’s our kids who can miss out.

Today the Greens launched a plan to make public schools genuinely free.
January 22, 2025 at 3:45 AM
If you’ve got kids heading back to school next week, you’re already juggling the cost of new uniforms, shoes, stationary, laptops and school and subject fees, and excursion fees yet to come.

In Queensland, public school fees cost families $202m, or about $354 per student, in Brisbane it’s $608!
