Today is the birthday of animator & artist Manuel Gonzales (March 3, 1913-March 31, 1993). A Spanish-American immigrant, he took over the Sunday Mickey Mouse strip from Floyd Gottfredson, which he drew from 1938-1981 (excl. WWII service). He also worked on a variety of other Disney newspaper strips.
