i think a lot about the context collapse that social media caused over the last few years. you see these morons who are like "i voted for trump because i used to be able to say slurs whenever i wanted, at any time!" when like, no. no you weren't. that isn't true. speech is always context specifc

The idea that America has always been fascist isn't just inaccurate. It also makes it easy to underestimate the threat that Trump poses and view him as just more of the same. America is currently on track to become significantly worse than just an oligarchical republic with structural racism.
