I would be making a big deal out of this if I were an elected Democrat
NIH scientists have a cancer breakthrough. Layoffs are delaying it.
A big step forward in cancer therapy has been slowed by layoffs and new restrictions at the National Institutes of Health, where it was developed.

We keep hearing from intramural ppl who say the public should know more about the rigorous BSC review that intramural science undergoes.
Forget 5 bullet points, NIH people spend months preparing for their reviews.

Anyone have good links/explanations of the intramural BSC process tht we can share?

This is incredibly stressful to our Alzheimer's community (families and researchers). There are Alzheimer Disease Research Centers that are in limbo now - no council meetings means no notice of awards, means all the research we are doing to slow or prevent this disease is paused indefinitely.

No study sections, no council meetings = nothing funded. If it's not in the federal register, not happening. Nothing in there after 2/20/25 re: NIH.

Era commons is not being updated. Still says my Advisory Council Meeting was held on 1/28/25 at 3pm. It was not.

Clearly.

I still don't think it's sunk in to many that after February 20th, there ain't no study sections.

If you wanted to give a huge advantage to foreign competition, I can't think of any better way than to halt the support of federal grants. Sure, let's just give the Chinese and Russian scientists that advantage.

It is diabolical. So much of American greatness stems from federal grant support.
