Jogging the collective memory of Los Angeles through social media since 2009. Some people think LA has no history. They just don't know where to look.
I too was memorized by "Autumn: The Chestnut Gatherers" by Georges Lacombe (took a photo of the museum text so that i could remember the name :). Recorded a video as i loved viewing it as the harp played in the background.

In her column, Thompson suggested the home at 6335 N. Figueroa was #haunted (by "what once happened"). Musicians responded & announced the haunted sounds had been replaced with “modern music that may be ‘out of this world,' but strictly of humor origin.”

The home was demolished in the late 1960s.

Nelda Thompson was an award-winning features & society editor for the Northeast Newspapers (the company operated handful of #northeastLA publications). In the Eagle Rock Sentinel, she penned this #Halloween column 60 years ago that romanticized the old & not-so-old homes lost to freeway development.

🕸️ "High on the hilltop in #EagleRock is the house that nobody loves any more…Still young & strong, but haunted as it waits alone for the final stroke that will deliver it to the freeway…as the ‘hand of tomorrow’ reaches out to maim the present,” Nelda Thompson (Oct 1965). #HauntedHouse #Halloween
