Putting an academic department is receivership literally allows the government to dictate what Columbia University professors are allowed to teach and research. It’s the textbook definition of fascist control over education and what people are allowed to know.

The silence? That’s not a glitch—it’s the system working exactly as designed. They think they can ride this out, that institutions will hold. But guess what? Institutions don’t enforce themselves. People do. If the people in power won’t step up, we have to make enough noise to leave them no choice.
Yes. Even our neighbors who are doctors and don't talk about politics much are wondering: why all the democrat politicians are largely silent? This is a stark contrast to what they did during the campaign.

With everything happening in the US right now, how safe are scientific conferences for foreign participants in the US? I think this is something we have to discuss as a scientific community. I am hesitating to register for US meetings due to the unpredictable situation. Others who feel the same?
