I don't want to crush people's dreams, but I think we need to focus less on "going viral" and more on building a strong community around our works. Having A Big Number by itself doesn't help much. You can't eat social media numbers. You need the people on the other side of the screen to CARE.

The key here is understanding the incentive. Old games released complete and mostly without game-breaking issues not because people cared more but because shipping really broken shit could have a sizeable cost penalty between recalls, replacements and refunds. It was bad business to ship buggy!
