(1/3) It needs repeating: in 1994, Ukraine was persuaded to give up its nuclear weapons to Russia in return for the US, the UK, and Russia guaranteeing Ukraine’s sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity.

I got laid off today, with the rest of 18F.

18F was an elite federal software shop. We made gov't websites work better, more efficiently for the American people. We saved taxpayers from getting screwed over by contractors. And were fired for it.

We made this website to tell our story:

None of this is about "efficiency."

Mass firings occurred at the CFPB this week — one of the most efficient federal agencies.

The goal here is to gut the government entirely and remove any obstacles to the continued consolidation of wealth and power by the oligarchs.
Blanket firing of all probationary employees regardless of skill, combined w the deferred resignation program is the opposite of "merit." The deferred resignation program is most likely to attract the highest value employees who have lucrative private sector offers and will be hardest to replace.

When Trump was sworn in, Elon Musk's corporations were under more than 32 investigations conducted by at least 11 federal agencies.

Most of the cases are now closed or likely to be closed soon, and the federal agencies are being defanged by DOGE.

Funny how that works, huh?

Also one of USAID’s accomplishments was to aid the end of apartheid in … South Africa. Of course there were many people very happy with that, and some … not so much.

I wonder where he and his family the emerald miners came down on the issue? 🤔

Wow. Just wow. To read these words from David Maraniss. This is how bad things have gotten.
The Washington Post editorial this morning essentially equating Biden's questionable pardons with Trump's outrageous Jan. 6 pardons was unconscionable. The newspaper I've been part of for 48 years has utterly lost its soul.
