I wonder who will re-emerge as the folk hero of our times.
A great thing about having a chatty cat is that I can say things like, “It’s snowing,” and he’ll solemnly answer, “Mep MEP.”

The Ontario government reverses course and announces today it won't scrap rent control, after proposing the change on Thursday.

Many tenants voiced anger at the government and tenant groups vowed they would put up a strong fight.

🚨 ONTARIO RED ALERT THREAD 🚨
Doug Ford’s office has already received over ten thousand emails in the last 24 hours, saying no Bill 60, which would enable landlords to renegotiate leases every year, and refuse to renew without cause.

Acorn Ontario is calling this proposal “Ford’s most dangerous act” and they’re right #onpoli

Literally no one will care about this, but I spent the last two weeks learning a set of preces and responses.

This article resonated with me (I say, with full awareness of the irony of posting about it here). I have largely “opted out,”, and I’ve largely seen the same patterns unfold. It’s a strange modern hermitage: peace, privacy, and often, silence.

I stopped posting on social media and it made me invisible. Now, I live somewhere in between

Long, challenging week, so I rehearsed in the choir room by myself for 3 hours, then I got a cute cookie and took a long walk.

My cat Guinness, the cat with the world's worst FOMO, desperately wants to play fetch with my neighbour's dog, leading me to the window and screaming to go outside whenever he sees them.

Our music director frequently exhorts us to get as close as we can to “too much,” while still staying on the right side of good taste, and honestly I think that’s good general life advice.

Another day, another whiner complaining that I use the singular "they" in my work, and of course they can go fuck themselves

Opinion | ‘They’ has been a singular pronoun for centuries. Don’t let anyone tell you it’s wrong.
Jane Austen did it. You can, too.

[I recently beat the TTC in a different kind of race. The next bus arrivals were in 23, 24, and 27 minutes, so I walked to my destination in 25 minutes.]
