Thank you for standing up to protect #Health4All and championing the health care every Californian needs to thrive 👏

You fought for CA values, refusing to legislate discrimination through the #CABudget. We are counting on your to keep up the fight, and we will be at your side. 🗣️

The Senate version of Medicaid cuts is significantly more damaging than the House version. It ends Medicaid eligibility for refugees, asylees, and other lawful immigrants, cuts funding for emergency medical services for immigrants, requires parents of older children to meet work reqs and more.

Profoundly disappointed in #caleg and their budget response. Instead of asking more of corporations exploiting tax loopholes and those paying workers so little they’re forced to rely on our safety net, they’ve put the burden of solving the budget deficit on immigrant families who can least afford it

10.9M Americans will lose their access to health care as a result of the Big Ugly Bill, which means California’s uninsured rate will likely jump back to double digits, undoing years of progress and leading to higher health care costs, more sickness, and thousands of preventable deaths.
New CBO estimates of House-passed GOP reconciliation bill find overall bill will increase uninsured by 10.9M in 2034 (with interactions between different parts of bill). #Medicaid cuts account for most of increase, raising uninsured by 7.8M in 2034 (before interactions). www.cbo.gov/publication/...

After waiting what felt like eons for the first COVID vax for young children, mine was one of the first to be vaccinated at our local Kaiser. There was a celebration in the waiting room with families who could breathe easier knowing our kids had some protection. This is a devastating step backward.
The possibility that Covid vaccines would become unavailable for kids alarmed pediatricians. “I see children admitted to the hospital with Covid and they’re not all high-risk children. If we have effective vaccines that prevent illness, use them."

New budget reconciliation language would cut funding to states that provide Medicaid for not only undocumented but also lawful immigrants including children and pregnant women. The cruelty has no limits.
Thread. 33 of 40 #Medicaid expansion states (+DC) will now face a 10 point cut in their expansion match rate under House GOP reconciliation bill. Latest language penalizes not only states using own funds to cover undocumented kids but also states covering legal immigrant kids/pregnant women (1/x)

$100 premium is just a back door way to terminate access to health care for families. This would be 7.5% of the annual income for a family of 4 living at 100% of the federal poverty level and making $32,500 a year. Massively unaffordable and cruel.

Medicaid work requirements DON’T WORK. They just strip care from caregivers, people with disabilities, chronic conditions, & workers with irregular schedules through endless paperwork. It's never been about "encouraging work" — it's about denying care & pushing families into medical debt.
