My master's thesis advisor said I could expand my research "when" I do my PhD dissertation, not "if", and that was the ego boost I didn't know I needed this morning.

"If that all comes across as completely incomprehensible, it is not the reader’s fault, but Hegel’s." Thank you for that, Oxford Handbook of Hegel. You're right, it is Hegel's fault.

The White House recently directed the termination of thousands of grants from federal agencies that serve the history field, including NEH, IMLS, and NPS. We are asking history orgs that received cancellation letters and emails to send us copies of these notices. Read more at tinyurl.com/479x3r2f.

#academicsky Please read this entire thread. The only way forward is together. I also think that states with big systems (CA, NY, WA, WI, etc.) should be joining together.
This exciting resolution from Rutgers University Senate is exactly the kind of model I think higher ed needs: a mutual defense pact of, in this case, Big 10 schools. They call for member institutions to create a joint defense fund and make resources available to any member institution under attack.

Printable 2x4 labels (& more) in this thread. Full sheets at bit.ly/4kOXREP: load your labels, print, stick 'em up wherever. (Don't be a jerk.)

Will this magically solve things? No.
But it helps like-minded people to take their own actions, by letting them know they're not alone. ❤️👊
Got a printer? You can start fighting fascism. Here's a thread of things you can print and distribute. 👇

I promise doing something--even this--feels better than raging silently. And maybe it'll show you that standing up is possible and open you up to more things you can do.

🙌🏼 I’m not sure who had the amazing idea to invite this constitutional lawyer to a senate hearing that intended to prove Biden colluded with Meta to censor conservatives, but she took the opportunity to speak truth to power ✊🏼 on the hypocrite 👑 KING OF FREE SPEECH, Donald Trump, himself. 👏🏼 Brava!!

Things that count towards officially and usefully measuring public opposition to a policy:

-Calling your elected representatives

-Signing petitions/open letters from reputable orgs

Things that do not count:

-Posting on social media about how you wish someone else would do something.
