Scottish Green Councillor, East Kilbride East. Deputy Chair Climate Committee. Promoted by Kirsten Robb, Green Office, South Lanarkshire Council, Almada Street, Hamilton, ML3 0AA
We were proud to march with the rest of the world yesterday, calling for serious action on climate change. For action on fuel poverty, for storm damaged homes, for refugees fleeing drought, for sustainable travel, for affordable food, for good green jobs and for a healthy, nature rich environment.

Today I went along to Wingate Sheltered Housing complex. It was lovely meeting residents and the staff team again. Amongst other things, we talked about IT and protection from scams. AbilityNet will now be invited to do a talk. You can also give them a ring for individual support. Details below.

Beautiful ceremony as always at Calderglen High School for Armistice Day. Words from World War poets, and Chaplain Bill from Claremont Parish reminded us all to remember the horrors of war and to always work for peace.

Have your say on potential savings to help meet the council's budget gap. Every year councillors get a report on public views of different cuts options so please do fill the survey out. Every year there are also options for investment to improve lives and our place too. I want to hear those too.

An appeal from our furry friends. Please do not set off fireworks at Calderglen Park, including Colonsay field. It disturbs zoo animals, nature and people. With more queries, I've learned more about the current laws, the impact it has on others and what we can all do to help. See thread.

So grateful for the place we live. Walking through Calderglen to St Leonards Library. Stunning autumn colours. Skimmed stones in the river, heard the loud calls of then saw a heron flying overhead. Chatted to the lovely library staff and saw all the great things going on there - check it out below.

Psychedelic leaf on the lunch time walk today. Calderglen Park is looking glorious this autumn.

If you can deliver in some local streets, we would really appreciate the help. It reminds people what I've been up to on their behalf and also how to get in touch if they need help.

My local newsletter has been hitting the streets, thanks to our great volunteer team. I got delivering this week too, enjoying the sights and sounds of autumn in our neighbourhood, like these goldfinches chattering away - enjoy! It was great to bump into people and help with some more issues too.

Last week, I went along to Davaar, a local sheltered housing complex, to help residents with any issues they have.

It was a pleasure to chat with some of the residents over tea in their refurbished common room, hear a few life stories, and take on their issues. Thanks all!

Photo courtesy of John McIntyre. UPDATE on tree felling: I'm so heartened by your care for our local trees. Scotland is one of the most nature-depleted countries, so it is essential for ourselves, our places and the wider nature that trees support, that we protect these habitats.

I've been contacted by a number of people about the tree felling at the former Carrigans at Strathaven road next to Calderglen Country Park. I'm gathering some more information and will do an update when I hear back. Thank you for highlighting this and for caring for the trees.

Let me know how the weekend's storm affected you. With climate change induced more frequent and severe weather, we need take stock and adapt. That's what will be done after our climate emergency motion passed last week. Report flooding and trees down via the council's website / out of hours numbers.

It was a joy to join Hunter Primary litter picking the woods at Glen Esk today. Great conversations were had ranging from looking at acorns and seeds to how our litter picking 'upstream' stops it ending up in the sea to having a mini tree hugging competition! #ScotClimateWeek

I'm bringing an important motion to next Wednesday’s Full Council meeting, during #ScotClimateWeek: “South Lanarkshire’s Climate Emergency Declaration”. Please message your councillors to ask them to support it - see thread.

Thank you Cllr Ross Clark for seconding this motion. #thinkglobalactlocal

My case work was up to date so on Friday I joined the Healthy and Active in East Kilbride guided walk as part of the #lanarkshireclimateactionfestival. Alistair the guide was excellent. We learned loads and shared things and visited the garden at East Kilbride Universal Connections YFCL.
