The budget bill is projected to reduce or eliminate Pell Grant (student aid) for over 61% of current recipients. It will especially hit part-time students and those balancing work and family hardest.

The President’s budget proposal includes enormous cuts to programs that make higher education available to students who would otherwise be unable to afford it. TRIO, Gear Up, and other programs could be defunded, hurting students and colleges in the process.

To illustrate my frustration, the discussion about the $2.7 million in additional funding for the sheriff's department was discussed in one minute. No questions, no substantive context. No mention they are projected to be over budget by millions of dollars in this fiscal cycle.

Received a letter from POTUS today purporting to remove me as Commissioner and Chair of the FEC. There's a legal way to replace FEC commissioners-this isn't it. I've been so fortunate to serve the American people and stir up some good trouble along the way. That's not changing anytime soon.

I find myself thinking about what my own personal levers of influence are, and how I might use it to help others over the next few years.
You don’t have to be a mayor or senator to do this. We all have a sphere, and we all have the ability to resist, aid, and refuse to comply in advance.
