I wrote this poem about embracing my chronic illnesses recently. Since I wrote this, I have really leaned into acceptance and away from resistance, and it has made life so much better. #poetry #chronicillness
Update: more fireworks at 4:15 am 🫠
It’s 3:35 am in Barcelona and I’m still up because of NYE fireworks. Haven’t heard any in about 20 minutes, so maybe it’s safe to try to fall asleep again.
PSA: Please remember tonight, some people have pets, infants, or PTSD.

Other people just don't want to listen to fireworks all night long.

Only assholes set off fireworks from home.

Don't be an asshole.

Had to cancel my NYE plans due to some bug I seem to have come down with. Wishing you all a fun night of ringing in the new year! I’ll be nursing a tea under my heated blanket and trying to finish one last book for my 2024 Goodreads challenge.

I ran out of my Zyrtec/cetirizine allergy medicine the other day, and have discovered the unfortunate news that you can get intense itching all over as a withdrawal symptom if you’ve used it long-term. Can’t wait until the pharmacy opens back up tomorrow 😬😬😬

I gaze into a mirror
to check if I’m real.

A face stares back at me,
so I must be.

But when it’s just me in the candlelight,
with darkness all around,

I can be anyone,
dream anything.

Am I really here,
alone in the dark?

Or am I somewhere else,
dancing in the light?

- Are we real in the dark?

Accepting my chronic fatigue syndrome limitations on a new level: first time traveling with a cane seat and using mobility support at the airport.

Here’s to (hopefully) not crashing and having to spend the next day in bed after I arrive at my destination.

It has come to my attention that not everyone who eats baked beans with hot dog pieces chopped up in them jazzed up this struggle meal by calling it “beanie weenies”.

Apparently, poor midwestern parents in the 90’s were more creative than yours 😅

Just got fat shamed (once again) by a stranger on my business brand’s Instagram post.

Only one of us should feel ashamed after that interaction, and it sure as hell isn’t me!

What a sad person.

A few days ago, I started promoting a free 5-day freelancing challenge I made up to strangers on the internet.

28 of those strangers have already signed up and committed to spending 5 days with me next month.

What a neat feeling to create a thing and get others to join you on the journey ❤️

The disability community is the the largest minority group in the country and often the most ignored. It’s also the only minority group you can join at any time. You can become disabled and most likely will with age. To care about the disability community is to care about your inevitable future.

Pssst. Hey, you.
Yes, you.
Hi.

If no one has told you lately, you’re totally kicking ass even though nothing makes sense anymore.

We need you. Keep it up.

To be disabled is to be radical. Many of us are forced to depend on others, rest, and be vulnerable. We’re basically forced to behave in ways that non-disabled people are taught not to do and I think that’s one reason why we make them uncomfortable.

I believed I could create and launch my online freelancing course in 3 months…that was two years ago. Almost there! 😅
You have to believe you can write a manuscript in a week, so that it will end up only taking three months.
