Found a version of this mossy guy in an old sketchbook tonight. One fresh piece of watercolor paper & 2+ hours later I found myself with a nearly complete piece.
That doesn't happen often!

(If I have a frame, this one will come with me to next week's show #CelebrateVermont in South Burlington.)

If you happen to find yourself in Huntington VT, now through March, stop by the Huntington Public Library and you may see a few familiar creatures along the back wall. Tag me if you take a picture!

We were gone most of the day today, so this orange creature is sticking close while I do some show prep.

World's on fire, but we got a visit from this amazing Luna moth tonight.

Myles saw my gryphon drawing at Studio Place Arts in Barre VT, and was inspired to make a version of his own in class. I was so chuffed that I sent him a print of mine, along with a note.
Well yesterday I came home to this absolutely marvelous letter and I'm on cloud 9.
A hand-written letter from a fan who met my gryphon drawing while taking art lessons at Studio Place Arts in Barre. Myles thanked me for the print I sent, and asked how I come up with my ideas, why did I name it Serenade, how many pieces of art do I have, etc.! Also wants to know if Serenade is a boy or a girl. Included a drawing of an axolotl. Young artist in blue t-shirt and short brown hair stands in front of an easel with his teacher. Diner dinner! The Tilt'n'Diner in NH had some delightful murals (especially the bathrooms), vintage ephemera, and tasty food.

Here are two very small Bumblebear works in progress: acrylic on 2" square claybord pieces. They're light enough to stick to my easel with masking tape!

Managed to catch a sound snippet of our local Great Horned Owl tonight! It's somewhere close behind the house, and has a delightful deep trill of a hoot. Wish we could see it, but we don't want to spook it.

Short painting session tonight. I use white chalk lines over the existing painting to help me rework bits of the cat's face. The chalk rubs away if I change my mind, and dissolves into the paint if I go with it.

This morning I sent off a nice fat box of originals, prints & stickers to the Arisia annual Sci-fi /Fantasy event in Boston, and then I reclaimed my studio!

Trying to paint over this crazy mythological hare drawing, and honestly, what the heck am I doing. I hope I can get it going in the right direction with some pen & ink work.
Anyhow, I like how my desk looked this morning!
