I teach 9th grade World History. I was on Jeopardy and it was awesome. Love music, watching sports (GTG), reading, and lazy summer days with my family. Mostly lurking and definitely drinking a Diet Coke. Still supporting Ukraine. She/her

This is horrific. Our country is deeply broken right now.

I unironically love Star Trek the Motion Picture. The score! The visuals! Doesn’t hurt that it also involves a vivid memory of my mom and I going to a drive-in theater, it being sold out, going home to make cookies, and seeing it the next night. It’s so much better than it gets credit for being.
i am 100% an apologist for ST:TMP. i enjoy it every time i watch, with or without substances
Put on Star Trek: The Motion Picture last night thinking it would make me doze off. Actually watched about half of it. I wouldn’t call it “gripping” exactly but it’s got a maturity & realism that’s different from the original show. More like 2001 or Solaris.

This… should not be a difficult concept. We are watching the erosion of the idea of innocent until proven guilty in real time. Why are people not more horrified??
Criminals deserve due process because due process is literally how we determine whether someone is, *in fact*, a criminal

This this this. I don’t want to hear about how it can help me grade papers or design lesson plans. I won’t use it.
Please, if you love anything about this life, stop using ChatGPT and other GenAI. Just stop. Don't use it to dunk on it, don't use it for a laugh, just stop and let that shit wither.

I love this. My first “real” job out of college was working at an indie bookstore and I miss it *so* intensely. Now that I’ve worked long enough to be comfortable financially nothing gives me more joy than buying a big stack of lovely hardcover books from my friends at Novel.

The open disdain these men have for teachers is just gross.

And notable too: the connection to ClassDojo should be further evidence of the platform as a vehicle to surveil, control, and punish.

If there was ever a time to develop a Luddite praxis in education to resist/refuse AI, now is that time.
“At the same time that federal support for public education is imperiled, two private online education programs whose seeds were planted with Musk and SpaceX are getting a second wind. Both could see even more growth under the country’s emerging educational environment.”
Meet the educational entrepreneurs who want to teach a new generation of Elon Musks
The billionaire's admirers and ex-employees have launched online schools and an “unapologetically elitist” AI tutor.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! March Madness about to tip off. I’m on planning so I can watch the first games. Memphis is in the dance again. When the rest of the world seems so broken, I will embrace the pure joy of college basketball!

I promised some historical background relevant to the implication that "DEI" had played a role in Wednesday's tragic accident in DC. Since today is the 1st day of #BlackHistoryMonth, it's time to lay this out.

So, herewith a 🧵 on just what it took to integrate commercial aviation in the 1st place.
Important 🧵 on DEI in airline industry by someone who knows the evidence and why current claims actually endanger safety. 👀
Last week my two careers—racism scholar turned airline pilot—collided when Trump promised that his nominee for Secretary of Transportation "will make our skies safe again by eliminating DEI for pilots and air traffic controllers.”

Wait, what? 🧵 1/

Didn’t expect to see Coach Pastner on the halftime show. Always felt like he was a nice guy but not a strong enough personal for Memphis.
Will this be our trap game? Slow starts worry me with this team…. 😳
