I finished listening to Dungeon Crawler Carl by Matt Dinniman. This fantasy/comedy story about a man, his cat, and their crazy adventures trying to survive a reality show/videogame that takes place in an ultra capitalist hellscape was absurdly entertaining. Jeff Hays performance was amazing.

Ball X Pit is spectacular. I'm on to New Game++ and I've really enjoyed it a lot. Probably a top 3 game this year for me. The basic gameplay loop is addicting and, especially important to me, short. Perfect for a lunchbreak. A great action/brickbreaker/rogue-like/base building hybrid.

I heard that Hell is under new management as of today.

I finished listening to Empires of Eve Volume 2 by Andrew Groen. The history of Eve Online is something I've always found fascinating and this book, much like it's predecessor, drills deep into the history of the events and people that have shaped the game. Recommended.

7 months ago I had just finished the third (final) pass through the story. I've continued diligently training since then and have now hit character level 600. 178 levels of growth since that point. Ringfit Adventure is a great way to lose yourself in an audiobook or podcast.

Big game launch on Game Pass today, so of course Xbox Live is still struggling to stay up. MS doing a great job of convincing people that price hike is worth the extra money.

Not going to elaborate on it, but I got to be a hero today for a random stranger and it felt great.

I've put probably 10-12 hours into it now and can safely say that Ball X Pit is AMAZING. A late year Game of the Year contender IMO.

I listened to "Behind A Locked Door" by Sarah A. Denzil. I found this psychological thriller to be disappointing. The twists were weak and the core mystery felt like something the police would immediately see through. I feel like some minor tweaking and pruning of some scenes would have done

I listened to "The Quiet Librarian" by Allen Eskens. A large portion of this story takes place during the Bosnian War and contains absolutely heart wrenching content that is difficult to stomach, but I fear played out in reality many times. I'll be reflecting on this one for a long time.

I finished listening to "Saving Emma" by Allen Eskens. This was, as usual for Eskens, just astounding. This story tugged at my heart strings to the point of nearly being in tears while also keeping me deeply invested in the core mystery. Absolutely loved it.

The writing scams are everywhere and they prey on writers hoping to put their words in front of readers, and for that reason alone every one of these scammers should be on the kissing end of a roundly swung shovel

Xbox Gamepass had a good run, but I'd say this latest price creep is a bridge too far.

I finished "Beyond the Mark" by Kevin Gallant. I hadn't listened to anything in the fantasy genre for a while, but I had a great time with this. I was surprised at the direction the story eventually went in, how tightly focused it was, and very much enjoyed the cast of characters and the combat.

I played through "Death Come True," an FMV murder mystery game from the creator of Danganronpa. Like most of the FMV games it's a rather short experience, but I definitely had a good time with it. I got it while it was on a discount some time back and would recommend it at a discount rate.

I finished listening to "Forsaken Country," by Allen Eskens. It's a followup to my all-time favorite novel, "The Deep Dark Descending" and a worthy followup at that. Eskens, more than any other author I've read, keeps me on the hook. The internal struggles, tension, just masterful. Highest rec.

I finished "The Gunk". I played the Xbox Series X version via Gamepass. It's a good light platforming puzzle style adventure game with solid enough mechanics and a good narrative. It's not super long, so if you're looking for something fun that will not require a big commitment I recommend it.

I haven't posted in a while, so I'm going to squeeze a lot of little things into this chain of posts.

I finished the season of "Dexter: Resurrection" It took me a while to decide if I was going to watch it or not, but overall I feel like it's one of the strongest TV seasons the franchise has had.
