Amid the 10,000 job cuts so far this month at the U.S. health department, the CDC’s Office on Smoking and Health — responsible for projects aimed at spotting trends in tobacco use and preventing it — is effectively shuttered. The greatest gift to the tobacco industry in the last half century.

Vitamin A has been shown to reduce measles mortality in populations with a high prevalence of undernutrition and vitamin A deficiency. That’s generally not the case in the U.S.

Data show that only 89,000 people over 98 received Social Security payments in December 2024….not the millions over 150, as Trump stated.

Rubio has always fought for the Ukraine. Do you think he might be regretting taking on Secretary of State? I’m sure he worries for his and his family’s safety should he step down.

We’ve tried to shelter our minds but tonight we’re preparing for the genocide of Science.

Entire NIH departments will have no leaders.

World renowned Scientists kicked to the curb without cause, & grants will loose their lead investigators.

Is this what they want?
Chaos? Destruction?
NIH ban on renewing senior scientists adds to assaults on its in-house research
Policy follows firings of tenure-track scientists and suspension of training programs

It is really hard to watch people willfully tear down an infrastructure that allowed us to double lifespans, drastically reduce poverty, and become one of the richest countries in the world.

The organization RFK Jr formerly led is actively putting information out stating that the measles vaccine is to blame for this outbreak, not declining vaccination rates.

It’s a lie.

The measles vaccine is both incredibly effective and very safe.

His rhetoric is responsible for these realities.

NIH cuts are getting the press, but VA research is getting slashed too. What do we lose when VA research goes away? Here's some greatest hits: The nicotine patch, invention of the cardiac pacemaker, first successful liver transplant, development of the CAT/CT scan

If you look at official HUD webpage, the press release is just a long list of Fox News and NewsMax hits claiming that the agency is engaged in massive fraud.
We are witnessing the merging of private and state media.

Super disappointing but it shouldn't stop us as reviewers from hammering grants and manuscripts that don't consider sex as a biological variable. We don't (...shouldn't) need an NIH mandate to do good science.

(But come on seriously this is so frustrating)
