People can tell it’s not true, but if they’re outraged by it, they’ll share anyway.

A good comment on how racist and sexist bias is affecting 🧪 starter packs 🔭 ⚛️

I have definitely noticed this and had a moment where what I really appreciated is the way Black studies folks have embraced me. It’s why I still do science. Scientist sure as hell aren’t.
I just looked at a highly circulated starter pack for top science and science communicators and there are 58 men, 27 women, the rest orgs based in the US, and 95% white. Maybe, just maybe, do a bit of curation and check your biases and show some care with what you put out into the wild.

Looking for info on Australia's "Mirage News", I came across @jtimmer.bsky.social's 2009 article, which turns out to be very prescient. As it becomes harder and harder to get real coverage, researchers have learned to find each other on press release aggregators.

I think about this a ton. I have a condition about which I've repeatedly been told, "Well, it's not your weight." Even if I were in a larger body, it would still not be my weight, but the doctor might not look any deeper.
You deserve healthcare that sees you, not just the size of your body. Latest by me on what weight-neutral healthcare is, and how to self-advocate when you're stuck with the doctor you have.
