The Covid pandemic accelerated this. It supercharged the idea that there are entire groups of people who are not worthy of protection. Not worthy of life. Acceptable losses.

Many would rather blame a disabled person for being disabled rather than understand that disability is something that just happens. To acknowledge that would be to acknowledge their own vulnerability. That's too scary for most people. Disability isn't a moral failing, it's part of being human.
