Hope and love are the only things stronger than fear and hate.
Hope resolutely, Love ferociously.
And garden if you can.

Prairie Sun rudbeckia, unusual coloring for a black eyed susan. It's pretty short lived and unreliable, but I've been lucky with some self seeding this year (too lazy to deadhead paying off) 🌱

But the world wasn't invented the day you were born. There is a long history that has shaped a lot of what you see around you, much of which came about because people were able to freely move. Without those earlier periods of free migration, could you sell luxury watches?

Last week mom and I went to hear "Quilting Field Trip Through the Natural World” with Anita Carpenter. Her very detailed and ecologically accurate quilts, sewn on her kitchen table, are amazing. These photos do not do justice. Her large scale landscapes and seascapes are absolutely beautiful.

I mostly garden by just shoving plants in wherever there's room, it's a lucky accident that these hardy geranium are just the right size to support these heavy peony blooms and I really love how they look together 🌱

A bit late with a pic, blooms starting to fade already but still so pretty. I planted this rhododendron about 20 years ago, it's never gotten more than 24" tall but flowers like crazy every spring 🌱

Most of the summer this weigela is an unruly mess I chop away at to keep her where she belongs but for a time in May she's my favorite (hummingbirds too) 🌱🪶

We’ve raided the archives and dusted off a set of charming 19th-century prints showing rural cottages near Colchester — and imagined what they'd look like as estate listings from the past. 🧵👇
