What got you interested in gardening?
Was it a gifted plant, a family member, or maybe the pandemic?
For me, it was this lady right here. My mom always had a big garden and would let me experiment with seeds in my own little spot.

We were forecast for 14+ inches of snow but only ended up getting about 9.
You know what else is about 9 inches?
Golden Treasure sweet peppers- our most popular variety of sweet pepper! 🌶️ 🫑🌱💚

I’m torn between wanting to advertise seeds as a gift option but hating to add to an already consumerist clogged feed on Black Friday so here’s a flower and the link to my shop 🤷‍♀️ sevenhillfarm.etsy.com

Clay county yellow meat watermelon seeds passed germination testing with flying colors and are now available for purchase.
A rare 100yr old heirloom from Alabama that’s crisp and sugary sweet and can grow quite large- though ours averaged 20lbs in zone 5. Link in comments.

My youngest is in elementary school now but this trusty old bottle sterilizer hasn’t failed me yet. Makes small batch canning so much easier! I’m processing two Queensland Blue pumpkins and only need a few jars.

Pusa mix radishes (or as my youngest calls them: unicorn radishes) passed the fall growing trial and we’ll be growing seed in the spring. One of the best parts about growing trials? Getting to eat them!

Things on the farm completely unfazed by last week’s 20°F hard freeze: Nagasaki Akari Kabu turnip, Tatsoi, Fordhook Giant Swiss Chard, Feverfew, Dyers Chamomile, all carrots, Catnip, Rak Tamachat Cilantro, Red Acre cabbage, and Obedient Plant. 🌱💚

Do you have dense or clay soil but still want carrots? Red Core Chantenay is a French heirloom that does well in tough soil and resists splitting and forking. Sweet, cute, and easy to grow 🌱💚
(Good choice for container gardens too!)

Did you know: catnip is the ultimate companion plant because in addition to its strong aroma, it produces nepetalactone; a compound that triggers the pain/itch receptor TRPA1 in most garden pests. 🌱💚
It does not affect bees and butterflies though, because they don’t have TRPA1. 1/2

Basil has been cultivated by humans for at least 5,000 years as far as archaeobotany can determine.
Agostino Reghitto Italian basil is a family heirloom that’s only a century old by comparison, but the flavor is timeless 🌱💚
