The way things are going, is there anything that prevents us from incorporating this Finnish proverb into the English language? No, there isn't 📉
This fact helps explain the paradox that Finland is regularly named the happiest country on earth in spite of not *seeming* very happy. It is, after all, the country that coined the phrase "everything is shit except piss" www-sananlaskuja-fi.translate.goog/sanonnat/kai... /7

I tried to give my take on whether water is wet for the BBC World Service - CrowdScience! The episode hosts chemists and material scientists too so this is a really nice & rounded way to approach the question. Here is the link:

Colleagues in Sweden — do you happen to know is there anything on Vetenskapsrådet on whether academic research/academics’ actions should not contradict with the state’s official foreign policy and state security?

We got a message from the university to remove any use of the "DEI", "diversity", "equity", or "inclusion" from all public-facing documents. They said that even "biodiversity" is being flagged by the federal government. We live in the dumbest timeline.

Doctored by @charlespiller.bsky.social is a must-read. It lays out a devastating case for widespread corruption and fraud within the field of Alzheimer’s disease research, driven by the single-minded pursuit of the amyloid cascade hypothesis alongside major financial COIs.
