Der müde Tod (dir. Fritz Lang)

i really liked this! it's a very sweet and honestly believeable love story and i really enjoyed those fantastical episodes. they're racist of course, which is unfortunate. but for the love story that in its failure to resist death wins something else? very nice

Le Sens de la Fête (dir. Éric Toledano, Olivier Nakache)

yeah pretty fun, not sth i'd watch usually but i feel like my parents would really get a kick out of this.

might have to watch the german remake too unfortunately, can't imagine that one is as fun

really falls apart in the power structures. you can't play both sides and have it work 100%. the ceo who is at fault for some of these real struggles and is unaffected because of class and money? she's actually also has the power to erase all humanity and that's... good? morally neutral? sorry??????

SPOILERS FOR BUGONIA

okay i thought about it, nobody deserves to be killed because of a crime, especially not if that crime is their genes or whatever. i don't care, if that WAS true (which it ISN'T, then racism would have a logical base??) then just /leave/ and it will take care of itself? it also

Bugonia (dir. Yorgos Lanthimos)

idk guys

the soundtrack fucks beyond belief and it looks good. the acting is superb.

i just don't know what it really says. is humanity bad and beyond redemption? but why does an outside force have to judge us about that? idk idk it just doesn't sit right with meee

i'd say that the protagonist needed like slightly more internal development /shown/ but i honestly am so happy that i liked a 107 minute film, wouldn't want it to be a minute longer. it's so refreshing to get sth under two hours these days lmao

there were some dnd party ass scenes. i will take it

Predator: Badlands (dir. Dan Trachtenberg)

i could analyse the hero's journey or whatever bc i think it'd work pretty well but i'll just say this was really fun. the cgi spectacle is cool, choreography was awesome, the final joke was so funny that we giggled all throughout the credits. yeah

finished reading Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep by Philip K. Dick

i really enjoyed this, breezed through it on the tram.

movie is a fave of mine but it's a very different story.

in the book i really loved the idea of RADICAL unwavering empathy towards ALL life. (definition of "life" pending)

Die Hard (dir. John McTiernan)

this is an incredible surprise to me, i loved this! i mean i /like/ action and stuff sure but the incredible character work here made me SO attached to the characters and i was sooo tense for every incredible feat and man. top 5 movie bromances for sure, al my goat

Back to the Future (dir. Robert Zemeckis)

lovely to watch! i don't necessarily appreciate the focus on class and nuclear family values but they're a product of its time so i'll deal with it. other than that a gag-fest of clever connections, mostly but not exclusively around the time travel
