Watching friends die from cancer, wishing there was more for them, while simultaneously watching the advancements to keep us alive threatened, cut, and our systems dismantled has

Across Social Security right now: in addition to mass firings, elimination of Oversight Division, they are wasting taxpayer dollars by actually paying retirement eligible people FOR A WHOLE YEAR to leave now. Giving others cash incentives to leave now. Destroying Social Security so they can rob it.

The @standupforscience.bsky.social DC rally is on.

What we are hearing from around the country:
"this is big!"
"biggest rally I have seen around here in years and years"

The public cares about medical research--and students, GenZ, and other people too are ready to stand up.

Accusations of antisemitism are going to be the tip of the spear for much of the fascist takeover of the United States.

Those who care about antisemitism must vociferously push back. They want us to be complicit so they have a justification for their actions as well as have a group to blame it on.

The SRO move is designed to look plausible.

Looks like another "NIH" statement passed down by the Trump/MAGA political appointees. (We hear that DOGE people are showing up at #NIH meetings, like Soviet apparatchiks, to monitor NIH leaders.)

This move is to harm NIH.

Why? See below in thread:

Yesterday, I was speaking at USC and one of the students brought up that they had witnessed Charlie Kirk raising his arm in a Nazi salute as a "sarcastic" response to a student berating him for standing by Musk.

This stuff will keep spreading. As always, it will be framed as a joke. Until it isn't.

One of the most important things to watch to genuinely understand how broken and f’ed this country is as exemplified by the repugnant racist & liar, JD Vance. I’m so happy to be his enemy.
“We have to attack the universities… professors are the enemy.”

#NIH funds universities.
Jay Bhattacharya believes what Vance says here too. Bhattacharya was chosen by Trump because he would attack universities.

Scientists must oppose Bhattacharya’s confirmation, and there is not much time left.
"The universities control the knowledge in our society (...) We have to agressivly attack the universities (...). Fundamental lies that feminism is liberating (...) There is wisdom in what Nixon said, the professors are the enemy "

Bhattacharya must be voted out of committee and he also must face a full Senate floor vote.

Many, many things could happen to stop that at any stage.

🧪 you can fight this.

House leadership may not want to own up to cutting health care but that's precisely what they've ordered - to the tune of $880 BILLION. Here's what slashing federal Medicaid funding would look like by Congressional district: www.americanprogress.org/article/the-...
The Republican House Budget Resolution's Potential $880 Billion in Medicaid Cuts by Congressional District
The Republican House budget resolution would cost congressional districts an average of $2 billion each and could eliminate coverage for 15.9 million people.

As a pt advocate, I’m gutted that more people aren’t talking about the dismantling of SOGI data collection. We know SOGI data collection is important; LGBTQ+ patients w/ cancer (like myself) experience health & health care disparities. And yet we’re allowing for its erasure. 🌈
