My elderly cat is too arthritic to jump up on the couch anymore, and so he has taught me that if he comes alongside the couch and meows, I am to pick him up. It's working quite well.

I have heard major multiple-siren responses FIVE different times today (I live 1km from a major fire station and ambulance bay). Anyway, that's atypical for one day here. Rough day.

-living in an age where a cold/flu sick child is not scary like it could be 100 years ago
- the COVID/flu vaccines we had a month ago
- being able to ask for help from our local loved ones

I am having a *week*. Solo parenting while sick, 4/5 evenings with kid activities out of the house, and today, the dreaded call from the school. Now kid 2 is concerningly sick. And STILL a work day to get through tomorrow before the husband returns

My favourite way to live is to do little things now that make future Kim's life a little smoother. Just little things like programming the coffee maker or setting out an outfit for the morning.

It's very much a go-nowhere day for me and the kids. I did manage to get groceries and gas for the week. Sweatpants and coziness for the rest of our day, as we had a busy day of crowds yesterday

I'm turning 40 in a few months, and a few days later, my spouse leaves for 7 months. So I'm feeling like 40 needs to be BIG and selfish. But I'm having a lot of trouble figuring out what that looks like in a way that's very true to me.

That drivers are out here running stop signs and red lights while looking at the phones they’re holding in front of their faces and this isn’t treated like a crisis, but Halifax council spent the summer debating the cost of bike lanes as though that is… it’s fucking bananas.

Had a dream that my 17 year old, spayed cat had kittens last night. She had apparently gotten out and then we found out the shelter she was adopted from had lied about her spay status.

We have been purging stuff out of this house in massive piles week over week and yet it never seems like we have less stuff.
I'm guessing some day the kids will be their full size and there won't be sizes and seasons of stuff to deal with. But it's overwhelming!
