I'm turning 40 in a few months, and a few days later, my spouse leaves for 7 months. So I'm feeling like 40 needs to be BIG and selfish. But I'm having a lot of trouble figuring out what that looks like in a way that's very true to me.

That drivers are out here running stop signs and red lights while looking at the phones they’re holding in front of their faces and this isn’t treated like a crisis, but Halifax council spent the summer debating the cost of bike lanes as though that is… it’s fucking bananas.

Had a dream that my 17 year old, spayed cat had kittens last night. She had apparently gotten out and then we found out the shelter she was adopted from had lied about her spay status.

We have been purging stuff out of this house in massive piles week over week and yet it never seems like we have less stuff.
I'm guessing some day the kids will be their full size and there won't be sizes and seasons of stuff to deal with. But it's overwhelming!

Daylight saving time has ended. Remember to change the batteries in all smoke alarms and test them to make sure they’re working. If you have carbon monoxide (CO) alarms, change the batteries and test them too. Only working alarms save lives.
