Spot the Ladybird contest. #FlashbackThursday to a July day when I was photographing these beautiful Alliums at a local @nationaltrust.org.uk garden in Kent and only later noticed the little bug nestling in one of the blooms.

One of my favorite 19th century designers! Worth gets too much credit for mastery of fashion in general and Pingat not enough.
Everyone knows Charles Worth. But in the 1800s, Emile Pingat was just as important, especially when it came to outerwear.

Not really an overstatement to say that the test of a free society is whether or not comedians can make fun of the country's leader on TV without repurcussions.

I’d say that @stephencolbert.bsky.social is (with the lone exception of @maddow.msnbc.com) the most brilliant, humane person I’ve encountered in broadcasting. His mind works faster than anyone else’s at a level of sophistication that is unmatchable. Genuinely a generational talent.
