Nowhere in the hysterical pile-on against the BBC in the British press has anyone mentioned that BBC News now has 77 million viewers & listeners in the US and has established itself as the second most trusted news source there.

Last night, Peers voted against Swift bricks: rejecting a simple, proven way to help one of our fastest declining birds recover. ❌

We share @hannahbournetaylor.bsky.social's disappointment & frustration.

The vote came late, but with government refusing to back it, its fate was already sealed.

Baroness Freeman withdrew am. 246 on bird-safe glass after the Government said it would look at possible targeted measures for commercial buildings.

We'll support her in holding them to this at the Third Reading...and keep fighting for a system that builds nature in, not out.❗️

Where would our city be without its transport workers? They keep London moving and as we’ve seen in recent days, they can be heroes in moments of real adversity.

To every transport worker, from our bus drivers to our station staff: thank you for all you do. You are truly valued.

“There are some people who hate London, and hate New York,” Mayor Sadiq Khan told me, on Bloomberg TV. “There's a reason why they demonize London, and now, indeed, New York. Why? Because we are progressive cities. We are liberal cities. We are multicultural cities. And we are incredibly successful.”

This event should be in our headlines all around the world #COP30 #LastChance
As the world gathers in Brazil for COP30, the stakes could not be higher. Leaders must join together and do what it takes to protect the people we serve, and the planet we share.

My op-ed with Mayor Paes of Rio de Janeiro for @NewStatesman.

Flight diverters on every power line, that were maintained, would save thousands of deaths of #birds in flight including #swans and #geese. The power companies could set this against their social value reckoning.
Thirty million birds killed in the UK every year through strikes — with many more injured and unseen.

A country that calls itself a nation of bird lovers must do better than this.
