"we just fell in love with convoluted regulations for no reason and need to fall back in love with building things" is a lazy misdirection away from the fact that corporate power and extreme wealth have so grotesquely corrupted the American experiment it no longer serves the public interest

it’s true ^ and i’ll point out that “sustainable abundance” has become elon musk’s tesla pitch. he’s acting like the work of tesla’s original environmental mission is done even though vehicles generating tailpipe emissions are still *very* dominant.

Racism is of course a big part of it, but I think Larry Summers spells out the other big part: Play ball with the rich and powerful or get pushed out.
