Experimental noms tonight! Tomato tarte tatin, with wilted spinach.
A round cast iron dish on a wooden board on a working top. The dish contains browned puff pastry. The dish has been turned out onto Denby plate (white with a brown rim). We can see cooked, caramelised tomatoes. Mozzarella has been added, and grilled until it cries. Mmm, melty tomato-y goodness.

SCIENCE UPDATE: Um…
The can of “white chocolate and raspberry stout” next to a pint glass containing the contents, which are remarkably… *amber* and not stout-like. We do have nice tiles in our kitchen, though. Square, rustic, and in a pleasing mix of pale colours. They make a ice background. The surface looks like oak, which is a WHOLE other story.

Or this. Actually, "Toffee Nut Latte" doesn't sound too bad, given that both milk stouts and imperial stouts are good. But 11%? Good grief! At least it's in a teeny little 330ml can instead of a full 500ml.

I like stouts, on occasion, but I do find it frustrating that our local Tesco mostly only stocks over the top novelties.

Take this, for example. White Chocolate and raspberry. That seems a bridge too far, to me. This is not a dessert.

Except - plot twist! - it’s the same cave, with two openings. It’s sunny, so there’s sand in sun and in shadow, and there’s a thin crack of blue sky.

So we had a lovely week between Dundee and Arbroath. Now just having a quiet weekend before work resumes.
First meal in the temporary place: a table set with two places. Plates have Tesco teriyaki stir fry chicken, plus ready-made noodles, while champagne flutes contain something fizzy. A sunny day at the temporary place, so we had breakfast outside. Well, biscuits and tea, anyway. A grey square metal table and matching grey metal chairs, with (eventually) spider-free cushions. Grey flag stones. Metal brazier (not in use). Lunan Bay Beach. Pale sand, sea, and sun glinting off the waves. The tide is coming in. If there are people in shot, they’re a king way off. The ruins of Arbroath Abbey, in the sun. This portion shows the “Round O” window rebuilt by Stephenson when he was in the area to build the Bell Rock lighthouse.

Today’s t-shirt is older than my co-workers. By a decade. And a half.
Me (late middle-aged, white, balding dude), in white linen jacket, and a t-shirt from when Metallica played Donnington in 1992. The t-shirt is as worn out as I am. But it is sunny, so that’s nice. Hence shades, too.

That’s what formal gardens say to me. It brings back many, many hours playing adventure games, and moving around that map - beautifully designed, and the illogical connections were a feature, not a flaw.

I love spaces like this, for a weird reason.
