I had a real teenage hyperfixation with the McCarthy era (my Roman Empire, if you will) and I did always wonder, like, “my god what would it have been like to live through that insanity,” and it seems now I didn’t make it clear enough to whatever trickster god was listening that IT WAS RHETORICAL
