Today in Achievement Motivation, we had an extremely interesting conversation with @dustinthoman.bsky.social about interest! We talked about how important the social context can be for supporting (or harming) the development of interest, particularly for students with stigmatized identities.

Many thanks to Dr. Jerrod Henderson for joining our Psychology of Learning in STEM class today to talk about recruiting more Black boys into engineering! We love his work and wanted to know how to expand his programs to reach more students and for longer periods of time. 😍#AcademicSky #EduSky

I'm very proud to share that I received a university teaching award from UH! This is a huge honor, and I'm so grateful for the support from my wonderful students and colleagues that helped make this happen. (This is even better than our basketball team being in the Sweet 16.) ❤️ #AcademicSky #EduSky

My latest career advice:

Get ready to fail. Learn to accept failure with a bit of grace (and give grace to others when they fail). Get better at learning from your failures. Figure out what you are willing to fail at and what you aren’t.

That’s about 90% of my job, and more generally my life.
