I believe New Year's Resolutions should be about making the world a little brighter around you. I do research on student motivation, and I put that knowledge into practice as a professor. Get ready to fail. Learn to accept failure with a bit of grace (and give grace to others when they fail). Get better at learning from your failures. Figure out what you are willing to fail at and what you aren’t.

That’s about 90% of my job, and more generally my life.
