John W. Burke, my paternal grandfather, (left) was born on this day in 1875 in Wiota, Wisconsin. He taught in a one-room schoolhouse in SW Wisconsin, & married Teresa Maher of Rockford in 1910. They lived in Freeport until their sons went to college. He died in 1960.
