I feel that economists seem to concentrate too much on economic growth rather than the morality of the situation. This all stemmed from a violent military coup and no amount of economic miracle talk will ever remove that stain.

The gist of the book is that the neoliberal policies did lead to economic growth but there’s massive income inequality in modern day Chile. It takes more of a stand that the growth was a good thing and mostly avoids how it’s tainted from the fact that a coup enabled it.

I think part of it he is got his PhD from University of Chicago where all the economists the book covers got their degrees.

He hasn’t made a decent film since “New Rose Hotel” in my opinion. And I honestly find the films he made in the 80s to be outright misogynistic. Besides three good films, I think the weight critics give him is a bit inflated.

Honestly the AI bots will push consumers to buy more expensive products and the ones the corporations want to push. Maybe finally make that fetch product happen.

This isn’t a dumb guy, but in the almost 10 yrs I’ve known him I’ve seen him transform into a conspiratorial reactionary troll from his infestation of right wing news and Twitter.
