Initial impressions of FS2024 SU4 are very poor. Performance seems noticeably worse than SU3 and the first plane I tried (Citation X) none of the screens worked anymore. Then tried to install an update for the Citation and it just silently failed nothing happens when you click install.

Even if this weren't AI, it's still a terrible ad that I'm surprised McDonald's paid for. Why would they want to associate themselves with the message "The holidays are awful, come to McDonald's instead."?

I literally pay for Discord and yet I'm still getting ads. I don't even know what orbs are.

@moonhood.bsky.social Do you guys plan to fix the bugs in The Midnight Walk? I really love the game and completed it in VR mostly without issue (though it did crash once). But now I'm playing it with a controller to get collectables and I keep getting stuck in wardrobes with no way out.

Wikipedia's math articles are a prime example of why teaching is a skill and why not everyone that knows something is qualified to teach that thing.

The existence of AI art is making me realize what percentage of my enjoyment of art was not just "This looks cool" but also "Wow, a person took the time and effort to make this."
Unsurprisingly the human effort is almost the entire point.

Pluribus seems interesting. Although it did take me out of it when one of their "scientists" said that 4-level PWM was so hard to crack that the signal might as well have been encrypted, when 4-level PWM is literally how UPC barcodes are encoded.

I’ve found lately that I have less and less tolerance for clickbait on YouTube. I used to put up with it but frankly I’m tired of creators willfully choosing to make a platform worse because “the algorithm demands it”. The platform owners do that enough as it is. We shouldn’t be helping them.

Much like Chants of Sennaar, The Midnight Walk is a game I saw on stream and immediately had to play myself so I could watch the streams without spoilers. It's such a delightful and special experience especially in VR and I don't even typically like horror games.

Much like Chants of Sennaar, The Midnight Walk is a game I saw on stream and immediately had to play myself so I could watch the streams without spoilers. It's such a delightful and special experience especially in VR and I don't even typically like horror games.
I bought a paper journal thinking I don't have much to say and I've never kept up with Day One or any journaling app but I'd give it a try.
4 days later and I've already written 28 pages in it.
I didn't anticipate there being something so intrinsically satisfying about writing in a physical medium

Is this really the kind of world anyone wants to live in? Why are we continuing to allow a world where corporations are allowed to work against the best interests of society to continue to exist?
OpenAI says they aren't liable for the suicide of a user their chat bot urged to kill himself because suicide is a violation of the TOS
Additionally, OpenAI argues its not liable because Raine, by using ChatGPT for self-harm, broke its terms of service

Just noticed Google no longer shows the total number of results for a search. That was really useful when trying to translate something to figure out what's the more common way to say something...

I have such a viscerally negative reaction to the examples OpenAI gave to show how GPT 5.1 is “improved”. It’s hard for me to believe there are people who actually want an algorithm to gaslight them with fake empathy.

Why is printing so much slower in 2025 than it was 25 years ago? Back then no matter how many pages there were it always started printing immediately. Now my printer just sits there saying "Receiving data" for 2 minutes before it starts printing even a single page.

@techconnectify.bsky.social Make sure your DS9 disks aren't counterfeit. I bought mine new off eBay and ended up with single layer disks and didn't realize they were counterfeit until I noticed one of the episode titles on disk 5 of season 5 was misspelled as "Ferengi Love Songsvb".

Every once in a while I hear an electric car go down my street with that ghostly sound they make so they don't sneak up on blind people and I wonder what the streets are going to sound like when everyone's car sounds like it's haunted.
