Farage feeds on attention. Frankly it seems to matter more to him and his ego than real, purposeful political change. It’s part of why he would be so damaging if he ever got actual power. Like any personality one encounters like that in life, it’s best to ignore their psychodramas whenever possible.

I had much better things to do yesterday, hearing fantastic witnesses in the Women and Equalities Select Committee talk about barriers women and girls face in sport.
What they had to say was much more worthwhile than indulging the member for Patriarchy Central.

I remain committed to fighting to keep us in the ECHR, like all my Labour colleagues
Rule one of fighting the populist right is don’t accept their framing of issues, don’t give them a platform or publicity & don’t fight them on the ground they want you to. Voting on his dismal motion violates that.

Government ministers are barred by convention from voting on them and that’s why MP’s on the government side generally don’t vote either.

Lizzi, as ever, is correct. This was just Parliamentary theatre from Farage. We shouldn’t give him what he wants by pretending it was at all serious.
10 Minute Rule Bills are a good way of drawing attention to an issue that wouldn’t otherwise be debated but they’ve zero chance of ever becoming law.

The number of key team and line management conversations I’ve had down the years in store cupboards and sluices in hospitals is a testament to how people based professions need to operate. Parliament is that on steroids, so it isn’t a shock that Westminster and any successor should be built that way

It’s the way he and his ever fluctuating party of members seem to never turn up to the debates that supposedly matter most to their supporters that is most weird. Immigration debates, cost of living or crime and ASB rarely. Public school tax yes. Odd really isn’t it?

The beauty of Parliament is that we all represent our constituents equally in the chamber
If Nigel wants to say the great people of Clacton are more worthy than the brilliant people of Sittingbourne and Sheppey then we are gonna have a moment but of course this is all about his fragile insecure ego

Haven’t had one of those late Friday evenings/Saturday mornings listening to Boards of Canada in years, but add in that old punch card tech and I’m suddenly missing the ability to share that with my Dad since he passed a few months ago. Beautiful stuff.

Meanwhile Nigel Farage:
- has talked about taking up a rifle/knife
- courted Elon Musk who is calling for violence on our streets
- lionised someone who admitted to inciting racial hatred and violence
- refused to condemn violent riots last summer

It is a joint statement from the Board of Deputies and the JLC. Its sad something like this needed to be said on the first Sabbath after Thursday but many people from every faith & none will be glad to see the clarity with which this longstanding position has been reiterated, and so can amplify it
