Incredibly proud of my daughter Jillian, a freshmen Astronomy major at NAU, who will be an intern for a NASA Space Grant research program! She'll help explore 3 new telescope designs to improve planetary imaging across multiple wavelengths for future orbital missions. in.nau.edu/nasa-spacegr...
Project 5 - NAU NASA Space Grant

I really wish Mark Kelly - a true patriot, a combat veteran who believes in defending freedom, and an astronaut who understands the importance of scientific research - had run against Trump in the 2024 election.

(1/3) It needs repeating: in 1994, Ukraine was persuaded to give up its nuclear weapons to Russia in return for the US, the UK, and Russia guaranteeing Ukraine’s sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity.

A dreadful moment for Ukraine, for the free world, for the legacy of an America that once stood for the principles of the Atlantic Charter.

I stand with Ukraine. and the truth that Russia is an invader and Putin is a dictator. I am deeply ashamed by the disgusting and obscene behavior of Trump and Vance. Americans support Ukraine, freedom, and the fight against tyranny.

To go along with our piece today, we published an extensive list of folks associated with DOGE. It builds off and adds to the strong work that Wired, WaPo, ProPublica and other pubs have been doing.

The public has a right to know who is dismantling the government.

Who Is in DOGE? Tracking Its Staffers and Allies in the Federal Government
The Times identified 49 people within the so-called Department of Government Efficiency, a group formed by Elon Musk that in a short few weeks has radically upended federal agencies.

One of the many cool things about Bluesky being open source is that the community can build awesome things like this X/Twitter to Bluesky migration tool: github.com/marcomaroni-...

I found it via @clemens.vasters.com who contributed several PR's.

Hi BlueSky friends! I created this account on here a couple of years ago, but never really did anything with it. I was trying out Mastodon & the fediverse, but going to give BlueSky & the AT Protocol a go now.

Great article from @KUTnathan uncovering the truth about why Austin's Zilker Park train is still not running. Like every other Austinite, I'm flummoxed on why it's taken 4+ years, and sad it doesn't look close to being fixed. https://twitter.com/KUTnathan/status/1618000683051122689

Have a blessed Yule with the turning of wheel of time which may bring love, happiness and joy in your life. Best wishes on #WinterSolstice today (or Summer Solstice for you southern hemispherians). I’m looking forward to the sunnier days ahead.

I decided to build a new Mastodon instance for the Austin community, after getting some practice self-hosting with this account. If you live / work / or are from Central Texas, feel free to create an account at

I've been interested in exploring self-hosted federated social networks for a while, and this sad Twitter debacle gave me motivation to dig in and set up my own server. If you're on Mastodon please follow me at https://harder.social/@kevin 👋

If you’re like me and grew up watching the @Snoopy specials on TV, you may also have an odd fondness for Arbor Day due to the “It's Arbor Day Charlie Brown” special. I just learned that Arbor Day actually occurs on different dates depending on your state! https://harder.me/3E7kKAm

Washington Post: Amend the Constitution to bar senators from the presidency. While there have been good presidents in both parties who were former senators, the Senate has turned into a grandstanding theater and this would do a lot towards fixing that! https://wapo.st/38srpaN
Opinion | Amend the Constitution to bar senators from the presidency
The Senate has become a theater of performative behaviors by senators decreasingly interested in legislating, and preoccupied with using social media for self-promotion.

Russia and Putin are becoming the new North Korea and Kim Jong-un. A state where a mad tyrant controls all power and wealth, no one except China will trade with them, and given attention only due to its army and willingness to use it to kill innocent people.
