On a bike trail I'd never been on before I came across an older woman standing beside an old tree. We chatted for a bit & she was totally charming. She asked if I'd like some golden oyster mushrooms.

I said yes. She picked them off the tree & gave them to me.

Isn't this how fairy tales start?

Last year, the JWST observed the Gomez Hamburger, a protoplanetary disk located 6,500 light-years away from us. Yesterday, the data was released so here are my processed images! 🔭

The first one is using the NIRCam data; the second is MIRI..
A disk seen edge-on appearing white and blue on the top and bottom, while the center is dark because the young star is enguffled in dust and gas. A lot of stars can be seen in the background.
