Landed in Cornwall for Mum’s farewell. Blue skies and sun as she would have ordered. Tomorrow, however, 🌧️☔️means she’s having the last laugh

For goodness sake. Is there anyone who isn’t grifting in public life.

It’s worth saying a week before lockdown, the Cheltenham Festival had an attendance of over 250000 across 4 days. We were due to have a conference in Reading at the same time. My boss cancelled because they could see the risk of Covid, public transport and high numbers of festival goers.
UK Covid Inquiry concludes: 23,000 deaths could've been prevented if the March 2020 lockdown had been imposed just a week earlier.

No mistake by any prime minister in living memory has caused so many deaths in the UK.

The tragic and catastrophic price of Boris Johnson's incompetence & negligence.

I was going to lift the remaining sweet peas as part of the autumn clear up, but it’s snowing so I won’t

It’s beyond me how all the political people scream INTEGRATE to people fleeing despair, war, hunger - many with skills we need - and the Labour Party* now say, but not for 20 years mind.

*FFS

Definitely tell people what you want done with your ashes. My Mum recently died and we have strict instructions to scatter them atop Bronn Wennili (Brown Willy highest point on Bodmin Moor) along with those of Bella her dog. ❤️
Recently lost my father. Picked up his ashes this week and have no idea what to do with them. Would it be the worst thing in the world if I just sort of, left him in his house when I sell it?

Out in the woods today, and in our garden feeding on the fallen apples, happy to see the Scandinavian Blackbirds have started arriving on their winter migration. A few Redwings about, but not seen a Fieldfare yet. #Northumberland #UKBirds

If you don’t mind I’d prefer not to revisit 1975’s neon blue satin hot pants and a poorly embroidered Bay City Roller tartan scarf.

Glad that someone has finally taken responsibility for the appalling assault on democracy that was the Jan. 6 insurrection.

Slightly confused that it's the Director-General of the BBC, but what do I know?

I think James makes a good point.
Neither Tim Davie nor Deborah Turness incited an insurrection against the US Capitol. Congressman didn’t have to flee for their lives because of a BBC Panorama edit.

That all happened because of President Donald Trump. If he didn’t resign, it’s truly *insane* that anyone else does.

Exactly right. Mistakes must be corrected, but deliberate campaigns should be recognised for what they are.
BBC’s Nick Robinson on #Trump #BBC row: “As ever..it’s clear that there is genuine concern about editorial standards+mistakes. There is also a political campaign by people who want to destroy the organisation that you are currently listening to. Both things are happening at the same time.”

Quelques Feuilles / Some Leaves

New thing - this is a part of a much larger work. Each square comprises 4 of the colours of an actual leaf collected over a series of walks, and then photographed, uploaded, compiled and arranged in chronological order. The entire work has 144 leaves and 576 colours.

I’m doing death admin, all the company bereavement teams I’ve called have answered promptly, been kind, and reassured professionally. The one company I absolutely need to speak to and who will benefit, keep me on hold without answer, listening to upbeat tinkly music. I’m screaming inside.
