Kaine doesn’t even have enough sense not to say that it’s the ‘first good night’s sleep he’s gotten in a while.’ Sorry, but there’s absolutely no excuse for this response. It’s political malpractice and is one of many reasons he’s not equipped for the fight against authoritarianism.

Senate Democrats could’ve defended their decision to hold out but chose to capitulate and offer justifications that are so weak they’re laughable. I wish that they’d just stop embarrassing themselves.

I’ve held my fire but it’s time for a Democratic caucus that understands that they’re not operating under the old rules. This caucus is not capable of fighting this fight. The stakes are too high to continue with people who are incapable of ever getting it.

The thing is that I’m not so sure that Senate Democrats will be able to overcome this betrayal because it’s made people question whether or not they’re capable of fighting authoritarian Republicans. That type of doubt is nearly impossible to overcome.
