@simon.fedi.simonwillison.net.ap.brid.gy went looking at the llm project docs for tool calling, just to check I had implementation in my head. I noticed MCP gets a very small shout out, is that indicative of opinion that it's not a significant approach?

"Don't Be a Sucker" by the US War Department (1947)

The film follows a young American, drawn in by a speaker promising an end to jobs for minorities and removing foreigners. He encounters a Hungarian professor who explains this is how Nazis grab power for themselves.

Germany did destroy itself almost a century ago. It wasn’t because it took in too many migrants. It was because it fell for arguments uncomfortably close to Vance’s.
"Europe is on the brink of civilizational suicide," US Vice President Vance told Fox News. "Countries don’t control borders, restrict free speech. If Germany takes in millions more incompatible migrants, it’ll destroy itself. America can’t save it."

BTW, the idea that all this firing of people is about lower taxes for the rich is kind of a smokescreen imho. The real plan is to fork off the functions of the US govt to private people, who buy the functions with credit thus creating a new ruling class of Trump loyalists. A gang.

Kill switch is simple, a remote control would be a little more nuanced.
i think that's probably correct. you could do that with a quick hack. the things reporters are saying they're doing sound overly complex for such a quick incursion.

Finally. So, next is maybe assign a colour to the icon and background, as a visual hint?

Amazed that's not in v1 tbh.

Logical name in tab/top right?

It's finally here! We've all been waiting so long, but AWS Console now supports MULTIPLE SESSIONS.

And yes, this works with IAM Identity Center and SSO too!

Seems to hit the mark. As an extension this applies to much of the corporate world and its leadership. Same applies to many facets of modern technology usage/trends.

Quick shout out for a project close to my heart - open.substack.com/pub/esp32zx/...

The #spectrum was my first, with all the classic typing in listings, tapes, peeking and poking and then a specdrum..
But endless hours on JSW, Chuckie egg, Pssst etc
Loading tapes - how very old school
Nostalgic trip into tape loading - brings back a lot of memories

Packaging python libs for Aws lambda , taking updates and package growth makes layer size a pain point. Anyone got a good tree shaker for lambda packaging? Some dependencies have vast sub modules I don't use.

The end game is probably a docker image but more deploy changes for that.

Does anyone know of a file format (cf parquet) that allows column addition... For existing rows (Vs schema change for subsequent rows).

Am thinking for feature addition in a scalable manner without rewriting the base data. Hoped iceberg would be it but, afaict it's not .

Has anyone made an Iceberg catalog implementation that uses only S3? Should be possible now that S3 supports conditional puts.

Seems like it'd be a lot easier to operate than any of the existing Iceberg catalogs.
