I’m not a historian so I don’t know how many times in human history we’ve specifically celebrated a lack of knowledge, and overtly attacked science, knowledge and experience. But it seems like an especially bad thing for the future of our species and the world.

I see 1000s of new followers so maybe time to introduce myself again.

For 30 years I've been a consultant who helps cities think about public transit (called "public transport" outside N America). I also wrote a popular book on the topic called "Human Transit." 1/ humantransit.org/2024/01/huma...

It’s only Wednesday night but the events of the week thus far have convinced me beyond any reasonable doubt that more Americans need to eat kimchi

People on bikes aren’t swerving to annoy drivers, they’re just trying not to die or destroy their mode of transportation.
This is generally what the bike portion looks like of our “shared” roads. Glorious.

"I won’t stop distrusting those Americans who support the Trump regime because I know it’s healthier than trusting them. Our divisions are real and they’re necessary, as long as Donald Trump keeps dividing us."

Recall what happened with the FBI when Nixon politicized it by appointing Patrick Gray director. The rank and file leaked, leaked and leaked up to the assistant director (aka Mark Felt/Deep Throat) level. They destroyed Nixon. Trump is inviting big trouble with Kash Patel.

It never stops being weird watching homophobes dance to YMCA, the most popular gay anthem of all time.

I spent days digging into the public statements of every single Trump Cabinet pick to see what they've said about climate change and it was a horrible process but I did it because Journalism Is Important and climate change is actually real so please click it I beg you heated.world/p/trumps-ent...
Trump's entire Cabinet misrepresents climate change
I analyzed the public statements of each nominee. It was awful. (Though Matt Gaetz was surprising?)

Oh, clever! Yes!
If I was Hakeem Jeffries I would ask
the caucus to all use the opposite bathrooms from now on and dare Johnson to arrest them. Let Johnson spend all his time dealing with bathrooms and not stopping lame duck bills and defending Trump’s nominees. Don’t let Rep. McBride fight this alone or herself.

We know this because we lived this with Trump for the last eight years. Keeping focus is difficult. We're going to need to get better at this.
