Every year Bald Eagles do an elaborate courtship ritual called "cartwheeling."

It apparently serves the important purpose of ensuring that partners are fit enough to successfully raise young.

Looks like fun.

250 miles from my apartment is the only known active Northern Pygmy Owl nest on public land in California.

These owls aren't, by far, the rarest birds in California, with a solid 2500 pictures on ebird, but they are hard to get

I've struggles for years to get a shot.
