I wish parents who have transphobic kneejerk responses would at least pause and approach the topic with curiosity and a willingness to learn. It seems like they only do "research" that seeks to confirm their priors. This is true of many topics of course, but this is your child's well being!

Yes!

It sucks so bad that the father would rather his son be extremely sick in order to preserve his own comfort - even when he has seen how gender affirming care made his son thrive. It instantly turned around the eating disordered behavior!

Lots of people find him really entertaining. Not a majority but a pretty big plurality.

I can’t stand him at all so I get where you are coming from.

I think you should have mentioned in your post that the judge has explained there's nothing new to be learned from this.
December 9, 2025 at 5:18 PM
DOJ moved to unseal the records. It's meaningless. The judge has been clear that there's no new info at stake (assuming DOJ complies with protecting victim identities).

Here's hoping the partisan hacks in the majority still have SOME capacity for shame.
December 5, 2025 at 8:07 PM
Partisan rulings aren’t crimes and they’ve already gutted anti-bribery laws. I don’t think they are worried about prison. More likely they would prefer to avoid scenarios that permit court reforms that would threaten to undo their partisan work.

It's getting hard to believe that they aren't conscious of turning themselves into the Calvinball court.

Crazy streak!

It's still true that open carry and a legal self defense based on a subjective perception of danger is a bad combo likely to cause tragedy and make prosecution for mistaken shootings in this pattern much, much harder. 2/2

I agree with your assessment of who is to blame, and the safety volunteer shouldn't have been armed given that they were prone to panicking and overreacting. It seems like they weren't prepared for anybody to be open carrying. However - 1/

But they'll make the effort.

1st term was openly racist against non-white immigrants, but usually his supporters could convince themselves that they were successfully pretending to believe he only meant to target illegal immigrants.

This is a change in that it's harder to pretend to believe anything that dilutes the racism.

I think he's saying that the self-defense/stand-your-ground law would provide a legal defense for that part of it.

He's not wrong AFAICT. It seems to me that combining open carry and these kinds of SYG laws is pretty much guaranteed to cause preventable deaths. le.utah.gov/xcode/title7...

Kind of a problematic law, like any "Stand your ground" law.

I think I need to see evidence that people don't understand that that refers to people in the United States. You claim there is confusion or ambiguity, but it appears theoretical.

And nobody is making the assumption that the continent (or hemisphere) belongs to the US. Wild extrapolation.
November 26, 2025 at 10:31 PM
That's a made up problem. Everyone knows who you are referring to. Nobody thinks someone who identifies as an "Americano" from a different country voted for Trump. Nobody is being erased. Nobody is being asked to pretend anything.
November 26, 2025 at 10:22 PM
I think those are two different things. Presuming that everyone reading something online is from the US is a problem, but easily avoided without using the term USian.

It doesn't seem true that the English term "American" causes any confusion. Objectors always seem to know exactly what was meant.
November 26, 2025 at 10:09 PM
In practice I don't think there's any ambiguity the vast majority of the time. I think this is a solution in search of a problem.

I disagree, because deconstructing the gendered socialization of ANYONE contributes to a more egalitarian mindset and helps shift norms away from sexist beliefs and messages. Typically it's feminists who are critically examining how men are socialized and how that's different from women.
