We’ll just eventually get used this the more it’s pushed. Like the motion smoothing on smart TVs that people don’t realise is ruining a movie. 😭

It looks like they asked for an Adam Curtis aesthetic. But without the real footage that he uses it just looks weird.

Assuming most of the people reading the newsletter are reasonably cool, so not too worried now if it is published. Plus it’s very far away from Amurica for a vacation! :)

I just submitted a holiday destination and realised I shouldn’t be revealing it in case it becomes too popular! 😳

I merged several Pocket accounts and my Instapaper archive into Raindrop over a year ago and it’s brilliant. The search feature is mega. Even if I only have a hazy phrase to work with, it finds what I’m trying to remember. And it permanently stores pages too.

I found him a while back through a painting by his father called Alberto. Didn’t even notice his name being wrong in your post, just recognised his (Alberto’s) painting style.

I’ve noticed a lot of shows have a blur for anything not in the center of the shot. Assumed it was meant to be an arty technique but it’s just kind of distracting.

Good overview of it here!
I've written about this elsewhere, but the longer you're on Substack the harder it is to move. I've been on Beehiiv for a year now and I'm really happy I made the switch. The "growth" Substack is showing you is absolutely not real and you will find that out very quick when you leave the network!
substack just announced a new enterprise media offering (whatever that means) in partnership with bari weiss’ website “because of its commitment to pursuing high-integrity journalism.”

if you’re still publishing there, it’s time to get the fuck out.

The memory is quite hazy. I must ask my dad about how the whole thing played out. How did we mobilise. How did we know what nights and time to turn up. Who organised the sandwiches.

Last couple of paragraphs why you write about this very illuminating Ed. Good man. 🙌

It was a mega computer to be fair, although much of the time spent on it was playing Batman. 😬

I always wanted a C64, but in fairness I was quite happy to get this. My dad less so, he lost the tele and his Xmas bonus! 😄
