No apology needed. I assumed it was humour. Trouble is it seems that many Americans hold the view that British food really is bland, which is incorrect. It used to be true, but we have moved on.
However, the Scots will deep fry anything.

It is completely capitalist but I bought a beautiful edition of one of my favourite books.
And grief IS inconvenient. Everything about it is inconvenient. It is also, unfortunately, necessary.

Mine too. I have just finished re-reading it and Fuschia's death gets me every time. Peake is criminally underrated. Utterly astonishing use of English.
No-one can get away with the mix of ridiculousness and beauty.
