I am re-reading Gormenghast and the way that Peake writes how Fuschia's character changes is simply, breathtakingly beautiful. Meanwhile, this chap is slowly working his way up the ranks by murder, manipulation and general uncaring psychopathy.
Best book (with Titus Groan) ever written.
