Watched Weapoms last night. On the whole, a very good take on what a fairytale would actually be like to live in. But, my god, it was dark. Why do modern films all have to be shot in a mine?

It's my birthday in a few days and I have treated myself to the Folio edition of Klara and the Sun.
It is deeply pretty and tactile.

Is Detectorists the most wonderful piece of writing and acting? It's a rhetorical question, of course.

In any other western country the emails that have just been released would spell the end of Trump's career and open the way to prison.
In the US now? Not a chance.

"Is it fair that those without children subsidise those who choose to have children?" Well, Jeff, do you want a state pension?

Trump is over time to sue the BBC for defamation in the UK.
Panorama was never broadcast in the US.
If he tries to go ahead EVERYTHING he said in relation to Jan 6th will come out.
There was no harm to his reputation from the broadcast.
The BBC should apologise for the edit and then sit tight.

Can anyone tell me the point of COP30? We KNOW that governments won't do what is necessary.

Farage has a history of misusing public money. He was a close associate of a man guilty of taking bribes from Russia. He has been paid over £500k by Russia Today. He lied about buying a house in Clacton. He then said that his partner bought it. His partner is not in a position to buy that house.

M'wife and I went out for a walk today. Went along the canal, through a lovely community orchard, saw a lych gate, and basically encountered things we had never seen before. All within 2 miles of the home we have lived in for 20 years.
Lovely.

I genuinely don't understand the "proud to be English" mentality. I am English. I was born in Salisbury. I had absolutely no say in the matter, no choice. The things that made our history...nothing to do with me. So what am I supposed to be proud of? An accident of birth, nothing else

This pic demonstrates everything wrong with Trump. Someone has collapsed. Someone is in need, and he stands, deliberately oblivious. No concern, not a flicker of human emotion. He is just waiting for things to focus back on him.
Inhuman.

Tice and Farage, both multi-millionaires (one of whom's partner moved to Dubai to avoid paying UK tax) think that £10 an hour is too much for some people to earn.

Two Brits have had some comeuppance from being associated with Epstein. No Americans have. Odd, that.

Antiques Roadshow. A jug designed by Picasso. If it were not for his name the real-world response would be "who let a 7 year old loose with the paints".
It is worth...£8-12k.
The art world is mad.

What are the chances the people of the US will go after Trump with the same vigour they have showed going after Andrew? Would be nice.

So Farage is upset because the govt inquiry into grooming gangs includes white gangs and is not just about brown grooming gangs.
Foul, foul little man.

Everything Reform Uk Ltd says is a dead cat strategy. It is done to test the water to see how far they could go or to distract from the previous statement.
They have no policies because they don't need them. Policies are concrete, the last thing Reform UK Ltd want.
